#YABkLove Day 31: What’s Next for YA?

#YABkLove Day 31

Today isn’t so much about sharing books as it is about sharing thoughts. What do you think is coming in the future of the YA genre? What changes do you think will happen or should happen? Do you think different types of books will be published? What things would you like to see? This is an open forum to whatever you want to see happen for YA in the next, let’s say, 5 years.

Also, thank you to everyone who has participated in #YABkLove this month!

#YABkLove Day 26: Adaptations

#YABkLove Day 26

It is day 26 and we have finally made it to my wheelhouse: adaptations! Let’s talk updated versions of fairy tales, myths, retold classics, folklore, etc. This was a huge trend about a year to three years ago but it is dying off now (you know, just as I finished my own fairy tale retelling manuscript). I still love them and I think there are some great ones to talk about.

Here are some of my favorites:

#YABkLove Day 24: Long-Running Series

#YABkLove Day 24

What long-running series have you read and enjoyed? Something longer than just a trilogy or even just four. I rarely devote myself to long series, and for a time they were out of style. Everything was a trilogy. Now, with series likeĀ Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, it seems like long series may be making a comeback.

Which ones are worth the time?

#YABkLove Day 18: Audiobooks

#YABkLove Day 18

I’m a big fan of listening to audiobooks because of my commute, but the narrator of the audio edition makes a huge difference in the listening experience. I have stopped certain books because the narrator was so awful (not naming names here), while some are so excellent they add a whole level of enjoyment to the book. I can say the Harry Potter audiobooks, done by Jim Dale are superb (although some of the pronunciations are a tad different than you may now be accustomed to for names).

I chose to do the audio forĀ The Hate U Give and I am totally blown away Bahni Turpin.

Do you have any listens that you would highly recommend?
