#YABkLove Day 5: #Pride

#YABkLove Day 5

Since we are starting this just following Pride month I hope some people have some great recommendations for all types of books of LGBTQIA representation. I am so woefully under-read in this area and I need you guys to school me, please! Especially in the #ownvoices arena!

dream thieves

This first character coming to mind (of course it isn’t #ownvoices) is Ronan in The Raven Chronicles series. Dream Thieves is a major favorite of mine because of how it told his story of coming to terms with his own abilities as a dream thief and his love for his best friend. The book is bookend, so to speak, with Ronan’s three secrets and the writing style worked perfectly for me.

carry on

I also so much love Baz from Carry On. He is a mess in his love/hate for Simon. I wanted to squish their faces together. I listened to this book on audio and I made it to a very famous chapter and ended up sitting it my car longer once I got home from work in order to hear it to the end.

A new release I’m excited to read but haven’t yet is Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy.

#YABkLove Day 4: Go-To Authors

#YABkLove Day 4

Is there an author that is on your auto-buy list? Any time you see a new book from them you know, without a doubt, it will be great?

For me, this usually means that the author has written in multiple series or several strong stand-alones and really proven their strength. One great book won’t add them to this list.

Mine include:

Rainbow Rowell

Laini Taylor

Marissa Meyer

Maggie Stiefvater

Susan Ee*

Paula Weston*

*These ladies only have one series each but I love those so much that I know I will devour whatever comes next.
